About $750

Need to try to shave it down to about $550

I want the best performance for such a budget if possible.
I can OC if it will save me money. (even after buying new heat sink and fans)

My son spent 200 dollars without my permission (this is why I am downgrading).

Dont worry..he was punished.

How about dropping the q9300 for a q6600 or getting a dual core instead?

or drop the crappy Antec 900 for a Antec 300 or something else

I forgot what the point of this PC was.. so you may need to remind me

Then I'll tell you

Dropping to the q6600 is the easiest way to save a few bucks...I did recommend this one in your last topic.

I know you did and it was for multitasking vernong and basic video editing and basic gaming. (like runescape for my son)

Lol, you'll still let him use it after that?? Lol, j/k.

Yeh for you a Q6600 would probably be better than an E8400. For multitasking and video editing a quad will always win out. The reason dualies are still recomended is because you can get more gaming performance and overclockablity out of them for the price.

All together that would still be a reasonably good build, probably comparable to mine which can play most new games on med-high at a descent res.

Haha dont worry he wont be able to play fo a while. So quads are best for multitasking? Also can you OC a quad in the future?

New q6600 do like 3 - 3.2ghz where as a e8400 will do about 4ghz (every chip is different though)
