I,ve been on another thread and was advised to try something requiring a run/CMD which involved use of this backslash (Back Solidus?) when I found mine didn't work. Changed keyboard and same thing again. English (UK) keyboard is set as default. Any ideas anyone.

Solved this one. I had changed my keyboard to a USB adaptor for some reason, and when I changed back to ps/2 the number lock light didn.t come on so I reverted to USB. Only found out by chance that this key didn't work on USB, and didn't realise that if you connect to ps/2 you have to reboot before it is recognised.
Posted for anyone else having a similar problem, but this thread can now close.
