I built my own PC about five years ago and its finally time to upgrade.

I'm just wondering what the "hot" components are these days. I want a total budget of around $425 from newegg (including a new case). The computer will not be used for heavy gaming, just general web surfing, video watching, and processing.

What are the best bets for price/performance these days? Thanks for any help.

At your price range

cpu: Newegg.com - Intel Pentium E5200 Wolfdale 2.5GHz 2MB L2 Cache LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor - Processors - Desktops
mobo: Newegg.com - GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3R LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard - Intel Motherboards
ram: Newegg.com - OCZ Platinum Edition 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1000 (PC2 8000) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Desktop Memory

Gets my seal of aproval you won't beat that for the money after rebates. case is personal choice on style so give us some ideas what you like and we can then reccomend not really sure what you can harvest from your old pc so just went with the general core components
