is my video card dieing? if you can tell me please help

my specs are a nvidia 8800gtx --E6600 p.--750w ps..--2gigs of 800speed ram--windows xp

first off it seems to be a heating problem, but my fan on my video card is still running and so are all my other fans.
Ive had this computer for about 2 1/2 years now but now sometimes get red lines through my display and sometims it just shuts down when im gaming and it will only let me game for about 15 min then freeze. i also get distortions like words being all messed up and of course the red lines i allready reinstalled the operating system to make sure it wasnt a software problem.
im thinking its the video card what do you think

ps im also thinking about replacing it with a 9800gtx (i play crysis)

load up evga precision tool and tell us the temps

thats just a tad bit high for an idle temp.. i wouldnt say out there though.. not for an aged 8800gtx

anywho, the main concern should be its temps while gaming...

anyway... download ATI tool and run the artifact finding program in it

and while thats running leave evga precision on and see what kind of temps you get

and hey, if ur getting a new video card... gtx 260 core 192 (the most basic one)

will blow ur mind away
