CPU rankings list?

this is a great idea.....

The 920 should be as good as a dual core, but is future proof for later utilization and its dollar performance/cost ratio is greater than any extreme processor, righ? LOL

for the cost to performance it would make no sense for anything other than a i7 920

It's not a ranking per se', but this is a good site I use for baseline marks and checks. What I lke about it the most is it goes back a few years to the older, but just as capable, cpu's that are still out... it also does GPU, and even memory...

you really couldn't make one of these thats absolutely fair... you'd have to make duals and quads separate...... there's so many aspects of CPUs that GPUs dont have which make them much harder to rank... we could make a list, but it would end up being about 10 distinct lists

Maybe it could take into account price to performance and over clocking potential

Both of these are always taken into account when buying, and show a CPU's true potential

We could just do it over preference. Start with one list of the 10 somebody likes the most. Using the input from users, you could add and take away, and reorder them until most people decide its a good list.

Thing is, it seems like this whole idea is rendered useless since we have the almighty search button built into this forum. What's so wrong about someone typing in a few cpu names and seeing what has previously been said about each one -- about a thousand times.
