Problems With New DVD Burner

Just got a new dvd burner. Its a Pioneer DVR 116d. I am replacing an old Lite- On dvd rom / cd burner.I installed it according to instructions, and when I start my computer,it just says "DETECTING IDE DRIVES" and nothing happens.When I put the old cd burner back in , the computer boots normally. I tried downloading drivers,connecting,disconnecting cables. Does this mean that the new burner is DOA? thanks for your input.Oh, by the way ,I feel a lil bit stupid.:laughing:

Did you set the master/slave/cable select jumper correctly?

^^ Not only that.

But before you add the new burner it might be a good idea to try uninstalling the old DVD/CD drive and driver.
