on a windows nt machine the user has a rolder called recycler and in there there are 4 little recycle bin icons and there is nothing in there but when u right click on one of them and go to properties it says there are 1500 files in there and 12gb of spaced used

On folder options, hit show hidden files

i did that already and nothing ...there is still nothing there

it only shows that there is something in there if i right click and go to properties

How was I to know that. so do you have show protected system files in folder options?

well when i click properties the system option is checked and faded out but hidden read only and the other are unchecked and not faded out

You will have to be the administrator to change system settings
