Hello, I am new here. I am in need of some advice. I have a DELL Inspiron 531.

AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core 4400+
Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 (Soon to be XP SP3)
2GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM 800 MHz
250GB Serial ATA Hard Drive
16x DVD +/- RW Drive
NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE Integrated
Integrated 7.1 Channel Audio
19-1 Media Card Reader
PSU 300 Watts

Now I want to upgrade to a better video card...one that is quiet yet affordable. I'm not a gamer but I don't want a sluggish system. But first it is my understanding I will need a better power supply. My question is, what PSU will fit and work with this DELL system?

I recently bought a dell and returned it
because of the psu + video problem.

They use there own non stardand parts.
Example: the backwards motherboards.

If you find out what PSU will fit you will
still probably void any dell warranty.

It's a can of worms.

There are a number of replaceable PSU's that fit to the specific plugs of your system. You can replace it easily - open it up and take a look. Better yet, your graphics card , is it built into the motherboard? (Says integrated, so, I think it is).

If so, you'll have to find info on the PCI slots you have available. You should have atleast two or three available.

He did list that he is using the integrated graphics. And it doesn't matter how many PCI slots, its important that he has PCI-E. I'm pretty sure he does on that Dell. To the OP, what is your budget on a psu and graphics card?
