So my girlfriend was a little skeptical about putting my xmas gift under the tree because she was pretty sure I'd know what it is by the size. She was right! :D

I know she got me this monitor: Newegg.com - Acer G24 Orange 24" 2ms(GTG) HDMI Widescreen LCD Monitor 400 cd/m2 50000:1 (ACM) - LCD Monitors

So with that said. I was going to purchase the 4870 here in the next week (Currently out of stock). However I was wondering if that will be enough? Someone mentioned the 4870 x2 but I just can't afford that right now. Would a 280 be better?

Its fine...

Not a fan of the color of the Monitor.. but it'll work fine with the HD 4870

off topic : what would you do if she got you a gient set of cars and a truck to store them on? :D

On topic : the card will do fine, maybe get the 1gb version if you can afford it, and i must say that the color of that monitor is rather un original o_O

EVGA 260 Core 216 is a better card (then the 260's or 4870) and just cheaper then the 280 for virtually the same performance. At that res though you will need 1gb of onboard memory preferably so a 260 with 1gb would be great and faster the 4870

OC GTX 260 216 > GTX 280
OC GTX 280 > OC GTX 260 216

GTX 260 doesn't come with 1GB.

A GTX 260 < HD 4870

HD 4870 = GTX Core 216
HD 4870 1gb > GTX 260 Core 216

(there's no GTX 260 1gb though)

4870, nuff said. Im running a 4870 512mb with 1900x1200 and it plays every game but crysis over 70fps with all settings on max.
