Hi everyone

I am new to this forum, but have a general working knowledge of computers.
I was a computer tech 20 years ago, but now I am in need of some help.

I replaced my CPU on an LGA775 Gigabyte motherboard and I can not get the unit to boot up.
I tried to remove the battery on the board for 15 minutes to try to reset the CMOS.

Is there something I am missing?

Thank you in advance.

Welcome,

Your problem could be that the mother board will not support your processor, what processor an mother board are you using?

Saxon.

Welcome. You may need to flash your bios to add support for the new chip if it was not supported in the older version of bios. Motherboard and cpu info would be helpful.

Thanks

I forgot to add those details.

I did check the Gigabyte website to make sure they were compatible.

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-8I945GZME-RH
old CPU: Intel Core 2 6300 @ 1.86 GHz
1.4 GHz

new CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 3.16 GHz, 6MB L2 Cache, 1333 MHz FSB, 45NM

3.25 G of RAM

I did go to the Gigabyte website to update the motherboard.
When I go there, I just download the latest on the list as it fixes all past problems correct??

I just asked this question in the building, buying .... forum.

Welcome to the Forums! I know it's a little late but have to welcome everyone and I wasn't around the last 2 weeks :).
