More Ati 4870 can be had for 180 with a stock cooler or 200 for non-stock cooler. I am surprised by that article so that means the 280 is now the best single gpu on the market and best sli and with the new models expected in a couple of months they should leap ahead further.

i just did got these results from 3dmark06 and crysis.....comparing nvidia SLI to ATI dual gpu....

processor was the same for both these 3.660 ghz...3gb ddr3

there you have it, the overal results.....!

in your personal overviews, which setup do you think wins?

WHY ARE YOU LOOKING AT 3870'S... they are terrible... they only reason to get 3870's is if you care about 3dmark06... otherwise... they suck with anti-aliasing.. and not very games like em at all...

8800gt sli > 3870x2 no questions

in case you don't know.. nvidia's new drivers makes the gtx260 better than the 4870 1gb in just about every game...

Techgage - ATI HD 4870 1GB vs. NVIDIA GTX 260/216 896MB: Follow-Up

That doesn't take into effect catalyst 8.12 final. Since it just came out yesterday. They are using beta. 8.12 has 10% improvements in most games and benchmarks.

And not only that but their conclusion was pretty favorable to ATI. The gtx260 didn't pwn anybody. They concluded the cards were on equal terms.

^^ Those benches are using a factory overclocked Core 216 which could account for it beating the stock 4870.
