i want to start an ftp server but im not sure how to. any help at all will be much appriciated....what hard ware to use, how to get it started and any other useful information. thanks

you can use your PC
download BFTPserver or Serv-U and read the help files

I would use a spare PC if you have one if you wanted to make a nice dedicated FTP server....

he should setup up his FTP-server on a different port because most ISP's are blocking port21
