Power Issue

Hey,

I'm having problem with booting my pc, specs:

Q6600 2.4GHz
Crucial BallistiX 2GB
SEAGATE 250GB Barracuda
MSI P35 Platinum
GeForce 8800 GTS 512MB
Antec TruePower Trio 550W

Hadn't used it in a while, started it up one day and it crashed. When ever I start the pc now, all fans begin to run and then it powers off and starts again for a couple seconds in an endless cycle. I'm suspicious of the power supply, after sitting for so long. Would appreciate any sugggestions.

Sounds like the psu is failing. Either that or the motherboard has issues.

Any thing I could do specifically to see if it's the mobo or psu?

For $19 I got a digital multimeter at Radio Shack that will do everything you need to do to check PSU and mobo voltages. Works like a charm, the one I have.

Oh, I want to mention that CrazeD has a tutorial sticky on using the meter so check that out. I'd provide the link, but don't have time to look for it right now.

It sounds like an over heating issue. Check your heat sink,and fan for dust.
