Hay.

I've been getting alot of nice comments about games on the computer from my girlfriend (she's asian & a gamer, so combined it's like o_O;...), such as The Orange Box, Portal, Fallout 3, Team Fortress 2, Left 4 Dead (especially), and many others but my family computer is HELLA SLOW.

Basically what I need is something that can run high-end games like Crysis, good at multi-tasking, an excellent graphics card, and a nice processor (again, for gaming).

Now, I'm expecting lots of questions flaming my ***, but I will edit this post answering certain things people ask me.

Budget: $1,400

Kthx

Newegg.com - Intel Core i7 920 Nehalem 2.66GHz 4 x 256KB L2 Cache 8MB L3 Cache LGA 1366 130W Quad-Core Processor - Processors - Desktops

Newegg.com - Foxconn Renaissance LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard - Intel Motherboards

Newegg.com - EVGA 896-P3-1265-AR GeForce GTX 260 Core 216 896MB 448-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards

2x Newegg.com - Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 ST3500320AS 500GB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - Internal Hard Drives (dont need both, but it gives you better options for drive setups... either RAID0, or you can use one for games, and the second partitioned partly for the OS and partly for apps and drivers)

Newegg.com - SAMSUNG Black 20X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 16X DVD+R DL 20X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 12X DVD-RAM 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-R 32X CD-RW 48X CD-ROM 2MB Cache SATA 20X DVD Burner with LightScribe - CD / DVD Burners

Newegg.com - CORSAIR CMPSU-750TX 750W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Power Supply - Power Supplies

Newegg.com - Sunbeam CR-CCTF 120mm "Core Contact Freezer" CPU Cooler - CPU Fans & Heatsinks

= $1413.90 before MIR and shipping
= $1383.90 before shipping...

you can always swap the Core 216 for an HD 4870
Newegg.com - SAPPHIRE 100259L Radeon HD 4870 512MB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards
that would bring the price to only $1325.90

and if you go for the 4870, grab a GA-EX58-DS4 -> Newegg.com - GIGABYTE GA-EX58-DS4 LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard - Intel Motherboards
which gives you awesome performance and OCing potential, but reduces the price to just $1292.90

either way you go, you'll get some dope gaming performance and a sweet OCing rig as well!! enjoy it!

I built my rig that's in my sig for about $600, minus the case, PSU and GPU. Runs Crysis on High, but the card gets hot after about 2 hours, need liquid cooling.

MoBo and CPU for $333 thru new egg (on special)
HD for $80 (200GT SATA)
CPU Cooler for about $70
RAM was about $110

Seperatly:
4870 1G GPU was about $160 (I got connex)
PSU was about $120 (IIRC)

This rig runs awesome! I've finally got a GREAT multi tasking computer that is as fast as I want it to be! (The Ex was SHOCKED when I told her that! LOL )

So its more like $1,000+? But not the $600 you stated.
