um no, the 9600gso has gddr3 ram, a 192 bit bus and 384 mb or 768mb of ram.

The XFX 9600gso has gddr2 according to its specs.

This HD 4850 is the same price before mir (cheaper after) as the 9800gtx and is faster.

The dropping prices on the 8800/9800gt probably killed them off.

well with the rices on the hd4850 go for that, unless you plan on playign crysis then go for the 9800gtx but only if otherwise go for the hd4850.
