GTX 260 (192) is a 448 bit card yet it still gets outperformed by the 4870 (1GB) 256 bit card.

for 2 reasons... the core on the 4870 is faster, and the memory (although addressed by a 256bit bus) is much faster, as it is GDDR5

i know 67% isnt 100%, but thats per DRAM clock... thing is, this framebuffer only really helps out at high resolutions or very high texture levels, the core speed is more important at realistic resolutions...

also, you must note that the 4870 doesnt compete directly with the 280... the 280 competes with the 4870x2, which has an equal bus width and much faster memory... so epic win right there!

but in our eyes its kinda different since the prices are not in the same tier.

oh yeah... i forgot to mention, it probably won't be any of the options you've got there... it should break 40fps in Crysis, but it wont get near 16k in 3dmark... but im gonna hit up 13-16k in 3dmark

i would say 30-40 fps, when u get to the demanding parts f the game youll notice it will drop significantly. as for 3dmark im not sure, kinda lost interested when nvidia rigged their drivers...

this card will eat a 4870 for dinner and call it a day LOL

EDIT: and if you notice the 4850 and the 4870 are 256-bit and the nvidia cards are 512-bit

so theres a big difference.....

exactly what i've been getting at... more memory bandwidth means higher performance at high res

well just finished getting all the stuff together...... got the processor running 3.60 ghz @ 1.34 v .....53-65 at full load.....

running the sli, overclocked the 9600's from 580 core to 680, and memory from 500 to 595.....

although the 2 of them overclocked seem about the same as my "1" 8800 GT, maybe a tad faster....because my 8800GT got 5500 in 3dmark06 in the gpu tests.....the 9600's got 5980 in SLI mode....so not a huge difference....and thats overclocked SLI....hmmmmm i wonder..

At that resolution, on high with no AA Crysis will be playable. Probably 30-40 FPS.

You will not get 16k on 3dmark06. I'm thinking 12k-13k.
