I thought it was ~$250. ._." Oh well, 2 4850's is like around there. And you don't even know what ATi has done to Nvidia, they made the people who own their cards Nvidiots.

ummm... 2x HD 4850 = ~$270-300 on the egg... one GTX 260 Core 216 = ~ $250 on the egg as well... there's pros and cons to either of them, but in this situation (and indeed most these days), the HD 4850s offer more performance for every dollar you spend...

and btw, the 280 has a memory bus of 512bits... this means it can address twice as much memory per cycle... the 4870, however, uses GDDR5, which allows it to perform 67% more effective cycles per DRAM clock...

thats 4850x2 is a beast

67% is nowhere near double and the gtx280 isnt eventhat much better, ATI has the better overall GPU design.

i know 67% isnt 100%, but thats per DRAM clock... thing is, this framebuffer only really helps out at high resolutions or very high texture levels, the core speed is more important at realistic resolutions...

also, you must note that the 4870 doesnt compete directly with the 280... the 280 competes with the 4870x2, which has an equal bus width and much faster memory... so epic win right there!
