overclock, where to start

I want to overclock my computer, but I don't know where to start. looking for someone to help me out.

I recommend you read a few good guides and do a lot of research before you dive into overclocking. A lot of information can be had by just looking through a few pages of this forum. Overclocking is something you should only do once you have sufficient knowledge of the topic, to make sure you don't fry your stuff.

all depends what kinda CPU you've got brutha... Inte;'s are generally very easy to get decent OCs on... AMD, on the other hand, can be difficult, but is quite easy once you get the hang of it... intel gets quite intense when you get to a certain point tho...

it's an older computer.
intel 3.0 gig CPU.
intel D865PERL mother board
saffire radion 9800 pro video card
can't remember what brand my ram is, 1 stick of 1 gig ram ddr 3200, and 2 sticks of 512 ddr

That motherboard barely supports overclocking and with a Pentium 4 on stock cooling I wouldn't try it. You might be able to get an extra 200MHz out of it unless you invest some money into cooling.

k, maybe I'll forget about it then. I'm thinking of buying a new computer anyhow. I just wanted overclock it to get me by for a bit
