Virtrually all motherboads have firewire and as you stated an add-on card can very easily add this with little expense or use a firewire to usb conversion cable

@OP: Dont be put off a motherboard just because it doesn't have firewire, you can buy an expansion card easily enough. Of course if it does have firewire onboard then even better...

i just dont have the extra dollars to buy the expansion :/ and i only need one for my recording studio...so i was thinking of just getting an onboard one lol
what company is reliable on motherboards?
i'm all of a sudden iffy about ASUS since it broke down so quickly...

i dont think my HDD and CD rom/dvd w/e are capable of SATA connectors
so if there are motherboards that only have SATA connectors im scrwed lolll

Both of the ones suggested have 1 ATA port which can support 2 devices with the right cable.
