Re: Tech Forums Official SuperPi 1M Top List

what you guys think of the e5200 that thing pulls like a 14.5 in super pi.

Re: Tech Forums Official SuperPi 1M Top List

The Core2 chips that I would personally recommend right now in order of cost are the:

e5200, e7200, e8500, Q9550

Core i7 is another story. I really would only get the 920 right now, since it has a lot in common with the others and can be overclocked well.

Re: Tech Forums Official SuperPi 1M Top List

the 920 is the only really viable chip in the Core i7 series so far... the 940 is far to expensive, and rarely OCs higher than the 920, and the 965 is insanely overpriced, only really for people who wanna OC on LN2 or cascade

imho, the e8500 and q9550 are the best 2 price vs performance Core 2 chips out these days... the prices on the q9650 should start to come down a bit, and they will become a better option as far a C2Qs go...

but right now i think the Core i7 920 has to be the best price:performance chip out there... of course the purchase of a new board and a triple channel RAM kit push up the price alot

Re: Tech Forums Official SuperPi 1M Top List

yeah, I also saw a lot of people only pulling ahead of my best super pi score by a little over a sec with the e5200 so I am thinking it isn't really worth it.
