Hey, I'm not up to speed on what the current budget standard is in motherboards, will the mobo I list be a good choice for the rest of the parts listed?

What would you call the best near-price alternative to the HD4870?

Slower.. the HD 4870 and the GTX 260 Core 216 are your best bets in your price range..

But I'm saying don't get the HD 4870 unless you have a really big monitor that has a high Res

thats a micro atx mobo. i'd suggest a full size one, unless you are tight on space. and if you're thinking of a 4870, you're not tight on space.

this ram is much better and like $3 more.

as for the mobo, like nagasama said dont get micro atx unless you need it because you have a micro atx case or sumthin, your best of staying with a p45 chipset mobbo which will help you overclcok your cpu alot, but if thats is of no concern to you, a p35 chipset mobo with a bios update will be fine.

I'm only drawn to the microATX motherboard because it's so cheap and the mobo I listed originally appears to be out of stock. If I'm not planning on overclocking anything would there be any significant performance decreases from the microATX?

not if your not overclocking, they just tend to have poor features and less pci slots.

yep. if you are not overclocking and plan on running a single video card, they are fine.

i like the asus 780g that i just got a few days ago. its micro and its a pretty nice mobo.
