somwhere out there.....
i didnt want to make another thread but i am getting ready to place an order for my build and i have the following setup:

core i7 920
gigabyte ud5 x58
gskill 3x1 ddr3 1333
500 gb WD HD 32 mb cache

just wondering if instead of getting a second 8800GT which would be a evga with a clock of 600 mhz, to go with mine which is a xfx 8800GT both g.92, but my xfx is 640 mhz core instead of 600 mhz....

i was told this would still work since they are the same gpu...correct? even if thats the case, should i just grab the 260 gtx instead and then SLI later?

heres the card:

Newegg.com - MSI N260GTX-T2D896 OC GeForce GTX 260 896MB 448-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards

one final question, does it sli 2 way like the 8800 gt? cause i saw like 2 seperate spots on the 260.....i have a 2 way sli that came with my 680i board if you guys think it will work when i ever get a second 260 i may do that.....

i just hope that the 260 can perform as well as 2 8800 GT's....?

since your build is so modern ( with the lovely i7 ) your probably better off just going with the more modern gtx 260 then sticking with the old 8 series cards imho. I have a thread on this comparing the 8 series performance to the gt 200 series performance, but it really depends on circumstances. For me I'm going to hang onto my 8800 gtx a little while longer, but if your making a whole new high end build, then just go with a gtx 260.

oh for those that don't know, Farcry 2 is now $17 bucks on amazon! ( last time I checked was on saturday ) I guess that plummets its resale value to practically 0 if you don't want Farcry 2 :p

Wow yea thats pretty cheap. I see here though if you buy it directly from amazon it's up to $50. Although other sellers like techstuffcheap (whoever that is) on amazon are selling it for like $25 new.

get the 260. It is going to go head to head with sli gt without the headaches of SLI. And this also allows you to pick up a 2nd 260 later.

i just ordered my stuff

here is my new setup

core i7 920
Gskill 3x1 GB DDR3 1333 (will O'C)
Gigabyte UD 5 x58motherboard
western digital black HD 32 mb cache 640 GB
2x SLI 8800 GT's both overclocked! 16x16 2.0

whatcha guys think?

think i may make 20k?
