WD external Hard drive problem

Hello All,

I have a western digital external hard drive (passport) 120GB, recently i format it and by accident i deleted the folder/files that comes originally with it.
After that it was working properly for a couple of weeks and then suddenly i can't see it anymore!
when i put the USB connection to the laptop or desktop it shows new hardware detected and i can safely remove after. If i go to device manager--->disk drives i can se "WD" but without other specification (usually it is "WD 160BEV External USB drive" for example.
I tried to populate the volume with no successed what i can do?
What i should do?
Please anyone can help?let me know as soon as possible.

my dad had a 160gb hdd go like this too. we just took it out of the external enclosure and put it in my computer and got necessary files off and we use it as a internal hdd now.
