back on toipc... WTF are you guys talking about...? SLI 8800gt performs better than a gtx 280.

I don't think that's true anymore..

At first it was a bit slower than 9800GX2, but a couple of driver fixes fixed that..

@Nos
lol, you recommend MSI, and you have a Gygabyte! LMAO. OH LOL, LOOK AT THE 4870!!

i cant find any newer benchmarks. the ones im looking at are these:
AnandTech: The Radeon HD 4850 & 4870: AMD Wins at $199 and $299

from june.

wouldnt the performance increase be noticable in the 8800gt as well? those benches show the gt sli puttin a hurtin on the 260 and edging out the 280.

Umm... that's an old benchmark, now there's a core 216 GTX260, and 1GB 4870

I would get an i7 build instead of a Q9550 build. It OC's higher, and can do SLi, and CFX. Plus it's the newes technology from INtel. ;)

Not necessarily..

I don't think its possible unless he spends a bit more cash..

$310- q9550
$135- average 750i Board
$70- average price for a 4gb DDR2 kit with decent timings
-$200- money saved from not going 8800GT SLI (not buying either card)
$230- GTX 260 Core 216/ HD 4870 price
____
$545
vs

$295- Core i7 920
$244- Core i7 mobo (the MSI X58, the cheap one, has had some burn out issues)
$118- DDR3 Triple Channel
-$200- money saved from not going 8800GT SLI (not buying either card)
$230- GTX 260 Core 216/ HD 4870 price
_________
$687

Its like $142 more for the i7 rig.. worth it yes..
