Good Desktop for Gaming??????

hey im new and was wondering how good are these specs. for gaming. ill be playing games such as doom 3,far cry, and hl 2 when it comes out... let me know if these specs will handle them good. also wheres a good case i could get... cause i heard ill need one that supports 500 watts? thanks

your first two are great . . . so is your hard drive, but i'd look for a serial ata drive . . .

also, for gaming, stay away from value ram . . .
 
actually my friend is building it... and im payin about 1700 but thats with monitor keyboard...sound...and everything else....

okay . . . ram, stay away from valueram . . . go for performance ram

for a couple more $, you can get a serial ata interface . . . smaller cable=better airflow

if you're gonna be gaming, i suggest getting a crt . . . you need a REALLY high end lcd to game on . . . i havn't heard of iiyama . . . pretty sure they're a good company, but crts are better for gaming

you're also gonna have to put a couple fans in that case . . . 1x120mm isnt gonna cut it . . . maybe get a pci slot fan?
 
There is nothing wrong with Corsair Value RAM, it is Kingston you want to stay away from.

This is provided you are not planning on overclocking.
