why wont the work!?

why wont my plug and play mouse and keyboard work on this laptop? it says it needs drivers so i update drivers.. of course there are no disk they are plug and play. so i go to the websites look up the keyboard and it says drivers are built into xp. its the classic keybopard 200 usb. and the usb optical mouse wont work anymore. after looking for keyboard drivers the mouse stopped working. what they heck is going on?

Have you tried the USB devices on different ports? Have you updated your USB drivers? Have you tried the USB devices on other computers to see if they are possibly broken?

In my experience if something is USB plug and play, if they are plugged in and don't work they are either dead or the ports on the computer are bad or not connected correctly (it's rarely is a driver or software issue).

they both light up and receive power and show up under my devices. and it does a searching for hardware and it finds them but says it cant find drivers.

have you tryed coneting them up befor you turn the computer on?
