First Build: What do you think?

No its not going to be primarily a media computer, I have the large hard drive because I have a very large music and movie collection (almost 500 gigs). The computer will be my in my room at school and I will be using it for gaming, watching blu-ray movies and just general use.

if I go with the E8400, p5q-em, and the PI Black ram, will the included power supply be enough or should I get a better one?

Never ever use a Integrated Power supply unless its an Earthwatts one..

I'd say buy a good one unless you mind paying to buy the whole parts again (because the Apevia fried it)

any suggestions for a relatively inexpensive one? i dont need anything out of this world, just something that will power this rig and fit in this case.

550 or 750. sometimes the 750 is the same price or cheaper than the 550vx.
