I recently purchased call of duty: world at war and noticed that the maps
take a long time to load 1min+, it doesn't seem like a long time but I'm
always close to the last to connect, I know maybe some of these people
have better pcs but not all of them. The game runs perfectly 100+ fps with
max settings. I did some asking around and was told it was my hard drive
holding me back, looking for the fastest/best drive i can get, size doesn't matter i
have a 160gb now and it suits me fine.

Setup

Q6600
Asus P5E Deluxe
HD 4870
8gb 1066 OCZ

This is my current hard drive HDD

This may also have to do with your internet connection, which is much more likely than your hard drive. Truthfully, hard drive speeds don't impact normal usage like this that much.

I have RR turbo 15mb dl 1mb up.

I only play on servers that have good pings my lat is usually 50-60ms

Defrag your hard drive (dont use windows defragmenter, find a 3rd party application through google)

Disable any anti-virus, or anti-malware scanning software before playing the game.

Any program that accesses your disk while your playing may be causing the issues.

Hardware failure could potentially be the problem.

It is highly unlikely that your internet connection has anything to do with it, except for the fact that its going to take a few moments to send your client information to the server.

This sounds like a disk access issue, likely to be fixed by one of the remedies i pointed out above.

Im currently on a fresh install of vista, did it last night all I have installed is cod.
