If you get a prompt asking for a password then it looks like WebWatcher is installed on your machine. WebWatcher is a software by Awareness Technologies that tracks EVERYTHING you do on your machine. To manage this application on the target machine you have to hit a combination set of keys (maximum of 4) like CTRL+SHIFT+CAPS LOCK, CTRL+ALT+SHIFT, CHIFT+CTRL+ALT, CTRL+SHIFT+ALT+CAPS LOCK, etc.
The best way to get this off is to re-install Windows and then put a password on your machine so your GF can't log in to it. It only takes a minute to install this software on your machine as long as it is connected to the internet so always lock your PC/Laptop and don't let her get in to it. Once the software is installed no matter how many times you change passwords on your machine, E-mail, or any other accounts, she will know them--even if you connect to someone else's wireless internet.
But if you don't want to use the "best way". You can play dirty with her and try to use some third party programs out there that will block IEXPLORE.exe from running (this is the service WebWatcher uses). AUTOMATE is a good tool that will monitor your processes. Once it sees IEXPLORE.exe run it will automatically terminate it. Of course, this is also the same service that Internet Explorer use so if you block it you won't be able to run IE. So, download "PORTABLE FIREFOX" (Note the full install, but PORTABLE) and use that instead.
Another tool that will help a lot while your offline is "HI-JACK THIS". It is free and can scan and delete your system files. The only downside is you need to be a little techie to understand and make a determination of which files are not system-related or important. What you can do is look for the second copy of IEXPLORE.exe and delete it. Second, you can scan the registry and delete anything that you suspect is related to WebWatcher. Once you break a part of the software's components, you pretty much break the entire software's functionality so deleting a few files here and there will help.
Finally, when you do the dirty play of cleaning your machine, make sure you are not connected on-line. If you're not connected to the net no information gets transferred over to the WebWatcher servers.
