Not sure if alot of you remember me but i was on here a while back when i gamed alot. I have been outta the loop for a while and havent kept track of all the new pc gear. Anyways i was looking to build another rig, i need everything even monitor. I want to play the latest games pretty easy but i dont want a monster rig. I wanna be able to go pick up pretty much any game and play it decently. Thanks.

Wow the prices on some of this stuff have dropped considerably, Basically what im going to do is buy a piece at a time since i cant all afford everything at once right now. Ya i need an OP i was thinking Vista Home Premium thats what im on right now.

Alright, I'll include all the parts (with OS) in an order of the least amount of depreciation.

Also, what I would suggest is just to save up the money then buy when you reach your goal because there might be better value then. If you buy in parts, you can't even use those parts until everything arrives so what's the point?

Good point, ok so i will put 100 bucks in my savings account every week until im done. Now as far as graphics why Ati im not a hater or anything but last time i was into this Nvidia was the best and blowing away Ati. Is Ati cards better for a budget gamer or what?

Because the new 4850/4870/4870x2 is the best bang for the buck in high-end video cards.

the 4870x2 is top of the line (This will change when nvidia comes out with something else)

As long as i can remember, since the Nvidia Riva days, and Ati Rage-- The leader position for fastest / best price-performance video card has swapped.

Ati
Nvidia
Ati
Nvidia

Its always going to be that way untill 1 of them goes out of business.

As of now ATi seems to have better value for the money (although with recent nVidia driver releases the gap is narrowing). Also since the motherboard recommended previously is crossfire capable, it allows a second video card to be added. If you still prefer nVidia then a 9800gt is a great option, or a GTX 260 core 216 if you can afford it when build time comes.
