I'm thinking of getting a new chip for my pc, at the moment I have a amd athlon xp 2000+, and it's running at 67 .C at idle, (and it's not even overclocked), so I also need a new cooler for it, can anyone advise what's a good one for cooling. If you could also tell me if it's available from www.ebuyer.com because that's where I get all my kit from.

Thanks

i love this design and im pretty sure its quiet but u might want to do a little research on it. Besides it looks awsome.

i also encourage u to go out and find ur own choices, but the store ur getting ur stuff from didnt have the best selection, so if u do go looking on ur own couple things:
copper is better than alum
zalman = usually quiet heatsinks
thermaltake + thermalright = peformance but usually a bit loud
o yea if u didnt know u wanna be looking 4 socket A heatsinks with ur cpu

good lord 67C idle? I would run 64C idle on my AthlonXP 2400+ when I had no case fans and the side of it open. Now I got the fans specified in my sig and its at 55C idle. Gonna be getting the 35w 2400+ XP-M though, plus I got an aftermarket heatsink and fan and gonna give the heatsink a good lapping. I have the Coolermaster Jet, theres mixed ratings about that, but I like it. Kangaroo has it and he says he got atleast 10 degrees cooler off his. I hear the SLK-900A is about the best damn heatsink you can get BUT its expensive and its ONLY the heatsink. Couple that with a 92mm vantec tornado and cooling won't be an issue....but going deaf will cause the tornados are loud as sh!t

Thanks for the response,

Yes, I would prefer a silent cooler since I recently bought a £20 hard-drive case to shut it up (airplane engines are quieter).

ud be surprised at how loud some fans are and it dosent really matter how far inside the case it is cuz wut happens is that most of the noise is created by vibrations throughout the case so no matter were the fan is as long as it is is contact with the case directly or indirectly it will make plenty of noise

I highly reccomend this HSF

I own it and am very pleased with it's cooling. it is made of pure copper, and it is heavy for its size. if you want a cooler that performs well, and does not sound like a blow dryer or worse, get this. And you can't beat the price $20 USD. I put a TT smart fan II beacuse I don't like heat, and don't care abput noise.

Also, whatever HSF you decide to get, make sure you get this:

best stuff there is, even if you don't overclock.

One more thing, clean out your case and heatsink with a can of air once a month/ every now and then.
