CD or DVD is the same thing. Are you using a internal dvd drive? or a usb attached drive?

No you don't need to make a new Image.

Well, the first time I didn't realize it was a dvd, so I put it in the cd drive, but I then tried it in the dvd drive when I realized this, but it still didn't work. I've seen people saying that the recovery disc is no good for doing stuff like this. Is this true?

Eeek..... What kind of recovery..... And do you havea cd key for windows?

You might not hae a real disk. I'm assumng its vista.... You might have to get a new/real disk and use your key.
