Core 2 Duos (including the E2180) are fater than Athlon x2's clock for clock so a lower clocked Core 2 can equal a higher clocked Athlon. With both cpu's at stock the AMD will be faster but the E2180 is capable of overclocking higher and runs cooler.

I never noticed my E2180 holding me back gaming at 2ghz but I have had it overclocked to 2.8ghz for quite a while now. The E2180 is so easy to overclock there really isn't a reason not to.

I have this heatsink and it does a good job of cooling my overclocked E2180. it also comes with good thermal paste so you don't need to buy any.

There is no reason to get ram that fast. DDR2 800 with good timings would be fine.

Yeah, but this Mobo only supports 1066 memory, I think? Can you confirm?

That's the maximum memory speed supported. DDR2 800 will work fine.
