trouble with onboard sound

my onboard sound stopped working a few days ago. i can't figure it out.
my pc is an EMachines T2958 http://www.emachines.com/products/products.html?prod=eMachines_T2958 the motheboard is an intel desktop D845GVSR here http://developer.intel.com/design/motherbd/sr/

i tred reloading the drivers from the intel site but it said i had a newer version installed.

i can't figure it out so if anyone can help me i'd really appreciate it

i really dont have too much experience with on board sound (even though my mobo has it) have you tried completely removing the drivers then reintsalling? if you have then i would recommend getting a sound card, because my onboardound has always been a little ify too, but im no expert so dont go and buy anything till youve got a second opinion

goto your control panel and makes sure the master volume is turned up. double check your speaker connections in the back. it should be plugged into the green hole inticating audio input. when you try to play a song in your music player does it appear to be working or do you receive any error messages?

checked master control. checked connection, they are all good. still wont work
