Under $1000 Gaming Build

Here is my updated build. I didn't like that crossfire motherboard for the HD 4850 and this is a pretty good price for the 9800GTX (I might get another one soon, to run SLI). Also I replaced the Velocoraptor with the 2 hard drives to run in RAID O (is this a faster choice than the 10,000rpm of the raptor?) Let me know what you think..

I would much rather get the boards we suggested than trying to save money by getting a "recertified" board. Plus, the nvidia motherboards are very craptastic when compared to the P45 motherboards.

I would go for the HD 4850 deal for $130 after MIR and get a P45 motherboard for $115ish.
 
If I want to do crossfire with th HD4850 what is my best choice for a motherboard?

Better PSU than what you have... I'd recommend an Antec 300 with a couple extra fans instead of the Antec 900 (up to you though)

Overclocking is going to be a painful job now with a q6600, bad batches have made them crappy and have overclocking capabilities of a Phenom..

I'd recommend an e8400/e8500 even though its a Dual-Core its faster in games (can go to 4.0ghz relatively easily)

Maybe a 750TX for future upgrades? $20 isn't that much compared to buying another PSU for $100...

Stick with what I recommended or get the 750tx (but not required..)

Which 4gb kit are you getting? please link to it..

I'd recommend highly to avoid the Raptor, because $1 per gigabyte is not worth it at all!!

A WD 640gb is just as fast for the price.. then with the money saved you can get a better board..

You should avoid the q6600 to be honest.. I'd recommend getting a Dual Core e8400 or e8500 and overclocking it to 4.0ghz, faster than a Core 2 Quad Q6600 in games and still good for multi-tasking
 
So Vernong could you post links to some of your suggestions so that my system will be up to par. I'm trying to stay under $1,000. I'd like to do the overclocking and set up my HDDs on a Raid setup. Will I need a RAID card too?
