Maybe since the 4830 is just a 4850 with with 160 disabled shaders and a lower core clock. Its possible that the native core clock was meant to be on par with the other 4850's. Which would explain why it would over clock as high as the 4850.

But like he said his friend doesn't like ATI. It just depends on his motherboard, budget, and past expierence. We just recommend which one is the best performance/price.
