ATI 4870X2 Vs 280 GTX

Which one should I get if I am looking to upgrade?

A 4870X2, because it is better, but are you willinf to really spend $550? You know a 4850X2 just came out, you can look at benchmarks, too.

The money is not really an issue here, but the 280 GTX looks really appealing to me since I can get it for 390 on newegg and its evga. Is the 4870 X2 that much better than the 280 GTX?

I'd say the HD 4870X2 is a better buy... but the newly release Sapphire HD 4850X2 is a direct competitor to the GTX 280

Yes, the 4870 X2 is better than the GTX 280, but the 4850 X2 is almost as good.

it all depends on how much you want to spend 390 is a great price for insane performence its just a litle more then a 4870 and it squashes it. then the 4870x2 is much more expensive and yes will slaughter a gtx280. if you can get sli gtx260 they will be faster then the 4870x2, draw something like 8 mre watts lol, and be very very similar in price.

I don't see a reason to swap.. but since you have a X48/p45 CrossfireX would be a better option... but HD 4870X2 or HD 4850X2 isn't worth crossfiring
