The original recommended components guide has gotten out of date so Vernong, Zmatt, and I have put together this new one. We have broken the guide into three main sections. Low-end, mainstream, and enthusiast. There are also an accessories and watercooling section for parts and supplies like fans, thermal pastes, etc. (which will be completed in the future), that could be used on any build regardless of the price.
Most of Tech-Forums' members are located in the US, so we used Newegg as the standard for prices and links. We will continue to add on more international sites in the future. Basically these lists just give a general idea of the components to look for depending on your budget, regardless of where you buy your parts from.
Low-end/budget components will include builds that cost approximately $500 or less. It will include alot of hardware that is still acceptable, but may be of the previous generation of parts.
Mainstream components would include builds that generally cover the range of $600-1,100. And it may overlap with budget and enthusiast lists to some extent. We have only included current generation hardware in this section. Most of the builds recommended on this forum would fall into this category.
High end components include builds costing more than $1,100. All of the leading and cutting edge hardware are listed here.
