Yeah seconded. You put on inferior thermal paste most likely. It's highly unlikely you applied TX-2. It cost nothing.

You can also lap the cpu but best thing to do would be upgrade to a core contact.

I asked him what paste he used, he said it was that mx-2 stuff and that is all he uses. I told him good cuz that was what was on there already!

Edit: I misunderstood him I think (via text msg) he said he uses artic silver 2.

Accoring to that youre only running at 1.7ghz...which means speedstep is on...you need to disable it inside bios, i believe its called EIST.

you left speedstep on in the BIOS. it lowers the multiplier of the cpu when its not under load. You need to turn it off. I will either be labeled as Speedstap or Eist

Well You have speedstep on....... hence the 6x multiplier. Check the sticky.

And yur only at 1713.8Mhz. 6x 285.

full speed would be 9x 285mhz = 2565Mhz.
