The 9800 Gx2 will out perform the gtx 260 in Crysis all the time except on very high res (like 30" monitor). It was kind of odd, but in 2560 x 1620( I think), the 9800 Gx2 got 12 fps (not overclocked). In smaller res though, it beat the 260.

Acer Aspire 5920-6954 Laptop PC

Also, the cards are ranked like this:

1. HD4870 X2
2. GTX 280
3 9800GX2
4. HD4870
5. GTX 260

According to this site that is. In that video though, they tested it, and it showed the Gx2 did beat the 260 in Crysis in a res you would be playing at.

The gx2 is a joke of a card. Stop recommending it. It might win in 1 game, but in the VAST majority of games, the brute force of the 260 wipes the floor with the gx2 due to the craptacular SLI on a stick.

I'm not recommending the card. I'm only saying that it is better for Crysis because this guy specifically asked for a card for Crysis.

well i think im just going to go ahead and get the GTX 260 though, ive heard the 9800GX2 has a few problems and gets really really hot, not sure if the GTX 260 gets that hot, does anybody know if it does ? also ive been looking at the core 216 version of the 260, will it make that much of a difference, for about $50-$70 more, is it worth it ?

i like the 4870 however im not likeing the 256 bit and 512mb on it

It seems that its become a common myth that RAM and the Interface can heavily affect performance..

The interface does not matter.. and the 9800GX2 doesn't even have a real 512bit Interface or real 1gb RAM.. Newegg is just doubling the specs of each GPU.. it does not combine!

Worry about the sheer performance of the GPU's which the GTX 260 and the HD 4870 both have more of than the 9800GX2! and the HD 4870 comes in a 1GB version of RAM

Agreed.

Also, that Graphics Card Rankings thing was before the Core 216 as well, and there's no way the GX2 would beat that.

so guys for about $40-$50 more, do u think its better to get the Core 216 over the reg. none superclocked 260 ? is it really worth it for about $50 more
