Ello. I wanted to ask about CPU's. Friend on mine told me, that Quads are designed to work on pc, but not play games. Dual's are the best choise for gaming PC - so is this true?

I'm about to build PC with like:

E8400, HD4870, 4GB Ram DDR2 and so on, so what do u think about that, will it play all new/future games in max details?

PS. I've also heard that HD4870 makes some annoying noises, any1 happen to cope with it?

Thanks, Ella.

since very few games are optimized for quad core you should get a dual core if you are going to game. if you do video rendering or multitask then quad core would be good. also what ram are you getting? and what games are you going to play? and at what resolution? sometimes 4870 are overkill and the cheaper ones like 9800gt or similar is already good enough.

games like GTA4, Far CRY 2, Crysis warhead and such.

I've got a 17'' monitor aswell.

IF your budget allows a quad, buy a quad. IF not, buy a dual core. I have been on a quad for over a year and i love it.
