how many times do i need to go over this

8.5 multi IS NOT HIGH enough... i'm looking for 4.0ghz+ daily use...

sure its do able with a 9550... IF U GET A LUCKY ONE... that has a great vid...

and not only that you'd need 470 fsb for that... bear in mind 470-500 is the limit of most quad cores overclocking.. and not only that.. i am on a 780i... which does not love the super high fsb

i am looking to get a nice 4.2-4.3 ghz 3dmark06 run.. and i honestly think this is gonna do it for me because its already pumping 4ghz with 1.37v.. which is friggin low for a 65nm quad

Your planning on getting #1 or 20k 3dmark06 with a QX6850, 780i SLI, and a single GTX 260.

good choice nos... i woulda gone the qx over the 9550 any day of the week... 470 is really way too high to keep your FSB 24/7 (i dont know why i do it)... even if it is 65nm, you'll run most benchmarks better than a lower clocked 45nm... but in real world use, it'll do at least as well when clocked a bit higher

Like gurusan said, you don't need your FSB to be high to compete with the QX6850 and no 65nm CPU dont run better in most benchmarks than 45nm CPU. In real world use, they also have more cache. Now, you can see that Intel just release the Q9650 (Locker) to replace the QX9650 (Unlocked).

ORB - Compare

yes, 45nm quads reallllly make the big difference in cpu score here huh.... 6300 cpu score with a q9650 at 4.0ghz

ORB - Compare

my 65nm q6700 got just about the same with 4.0ghz.

yess, all hail the 45nm quad and its superiority....LOL bullcrap

my old q6700 - 6194@4.0 ghz

this q9650 - 6345 @ 4.0 ghz

yaaaa... and this is a 9550 were talking about anyway.... its so much harder to get it stable at 4.0 ghz because of the amazingly high fsb you have to run through it...

ok point taken.

in fact i just bought another Q6600 lol. Got a good deal and I think it might be a good stepping (L733B458)
