This is my first build and I am wondering if I did ok with the components that I have chosen? I am not a gamer by any means. This is totally a workstation for SolidWorks and AutoCAD. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I am very new to this and I didn't want to go the dell route again. Everybody says it's easy but I feel a little lost in this whole thing. Thanks for the help.

the 9600gt 1gb is slower than the 512mb, plus the HD 4850 is the same price and loads better

no, go with the Tp45 its great because you wont need all the features of a I45 unless you going to be heavily overclocking the Tp45 will be fine.

best brands are XFX, evga, bfg tech

other good brands asus, foxconn, palit (since they make most cards and usually make high quality products).

the first three being usually the best. customer service etc. but palit is not bad either, ultimatley it does not make anydifference which one you buy beides ur customer service expierence. or if u are buying a palit that has aftermarket cooelr or sumthin, so dont sweat it, any brand will be ok.

Is there anything wrong with the Asus? My IT guy seems to think I should stay away from the Biostar and stay with the Asus. I don't know. I am thinking of listening to you guys and going with the Biostar because there are so many more that seem to like them. What should I do?

Again, thanks for your help. I am such a noob.

There is nothing wrong with Biostar, they make quality boards just like Asus. I just think Asus has been around longer, and people still don't know that much about Biostar. The TP45 that baron mentioned is a good choice.

autocad with a 9600gt..?

i'd highly recommend a quadro or firegl card... as they are meant for like autocad and all that..
