amd 64 i would get, as of the mobos, im not to shur. I know asus makes good allround amd mobos. But if ur gona be gaming, and a lil not advance ps, go with amd.

As koldapu said, sata is worth it if ur budget is 1400$ smaller cables, and faster to open files and stuff.

frys is the best store, but try to stick to online sites, koldapu got the best ones there. u might wana check www.pricewatch.com to c how the prices compare to other ssites and all.

yup its a huge scam, the 754 pin or w/e doesnt support dual channel even if the mobo does. u can still have 2 stcks of ram, but they wont work in dual channel if its a 64 754 pin proc

Wow! Thanks for all your help!

I have changed my Processor to the one that you suggested, b/c, you guessed it, I don't have a heatsink and a fan.

Also I didn't know that about the RAM.. Thanks for the tip! Will it be upgradeable in the future?

lazerman: I don't think that I will go with that hard drive. I selected this one. Is that okay for all my other components?

How much wattage would I need for my setup? 400W?

Thanks again!

That hard drive should work with all your other components. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. I would really suggest those raptors though, they will be alot faster and around the same price. If you only want a single SATA drive get this one- http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=22-144-160&depa=1

Or at least read the reviews- http://secure.newegg.com/app/CustratingReview.asp?DEPA=1&item=22-144-160

I personally don't know anyone who has ever used more then 15-20gb on a hard drive if that is what is discouraging you.

This is what I like. Just tell me what to get.. :)

Video Card: What about this one? Will this one work?

http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProductDesc.asp?description=14-102-352&depa=0&manufactory=BROWSE

I like that one b/c of the remote control and the ability to record TV. :)

I personally don't know anyone who has ever used more then 15-20gb on a hard drive if that is what is discouraging you.

I have a lot of .mp3s, movies and games...

I need a 200 gig hard drive. And plus. I probably couldn't even tell the difference between the two... ;)

I have absolutely no clue when it comes to Vid Cards. Yea thats all I can really say lol.

Edit: You have a good point with the games and movies, but the difference in speed is night and day I have been told.

you are correct lazerman, there will be a difference in performance. but the raptors does cost more.

actually . . . if you compare to the maxtor that was originally posted, not MUCH more expensive . . .

i'd rather go with a 200GB sata drive though, if on a budget of $1200-1400

but tell us what your final planning list is or wtvr, and what the $ is . . .
