hey guys when i tried to plug in my hard drive while its powered on it made a tiny spark and after that it is not recognizing the drive anymore. I assume that its the PCB that is dead and how much will it cost to replace and recover the data? or will it be safe to buy the PCB myself and try to solder it back together?

you shouldnt have to solder any thing. usually it screws on and off. look on ebay they run about 20-80 bucks depending on model.

so how would i make sure the new PCB is going to work? i found out that some people are getting some clicking noises if they have wrong firmware and all i want to do is back up the data on my old HD and maybe not use it again.
