networking is frustrating, HELP

ok. everything is almost fine now (thanks for your help so far) except I need to use 2 computers with one monitor. one of them is a G5 and the other is a pc. They each have their own keyboard and mouse but I need them to share a monitor. I have looked at kvm switches but i don't know what to do. PLEASE HELP

that or just a switch. kvm usually just press cntrl 3 times and choose the puter.
