upgrading old pc

im running xp pro sp3 on my pc its specs are
1.5GHz and
2x512MB
and ive seen the min specs to run XP and im well clear
300MHz and
128Mb
i want to know why my pc is running really slow is it anything to do with the HD, it could be on its last legs, i mean theHD not making a noise it seems to be running fine, thats the only conclusion i come with

PS the ram is SDram

Those specs don't match your sig :s. Do you mean the general windows environment is slow? Spyware/ adware viruses all scanned for lately?
That processor is OLD and slow but should be ok for word processing and internet browsing. Go into ctrl+alt+del and check background tasks how many???

no the computer in my spec is my one in bedroom, the old computer i want to give to my mum but its really slow

ive just installed a feresh copy of windows so no reason why it should have any viruses or spyware

Peculiar are your drivers upto date? Defrag the harddisks and again how many background tasks with a fresh install IRC it should be around 30-40

il check im just doing a repair of xp because when it installed on pc for first time it came with an error in the installation but i could carry on with the installation which is what i did and i think its to do with that, im not sure
