I have a new desktop and I wish to transfer via a usb link the contents of a hard drive in my old computer, but not the OS which is already installed on the new desktop.
I an rather a novice, so if it simple, bear with me please
You could hook up an ethernet cable between the computers, and enable file sharing on whichever files your looking to transfer, and simply find your old HD (more than likely your old computers name) in your local networks and transfer the data.
