I recently reinstalled Vista on my laptop. Got all the updates and such when I plug in my mouse i get this error that says:

Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it.

USB Browser Mouse

An error occurred during the installation of the device

The driver installation file for this device is missing a ecessary entry. This may be because the INF was written for Windows 95 or later. Contact your hardware vendor.

Its a Gateway MT6730

any suggestions are appreciated

wow i feel like a moron that did it.

used to be that windows would just use whatever mouse i put in but after i reinstalled i guess something is changed

thx]

Normally Vista would have installed a driver for it. It would appear one of the Gateway updates wasn't meant for Vista.
