Feedback: My new build

Yea definitely go with a 64bit system as the 32bit won't see more than 3gb of ram. Although, you may want to consider going with Vista 64bit Home Premium. In my opinion the extra features of Ultimate don't warrant the high price tag.

its actually 4gb including gpu memory.

MY NEW COMPUTER BUILD – VERSION 3

Changes for this build include:

Motherboard – going with a biostar board which, according to newegg, holds te OCing record of 6ghz!

CPU Fan/Cooler – going with XIGMATEK HDT-S1283 120mm Rifle CPU Cooler. Was suggested by someone who knows allot more about building rigs then I do + the price was right.

VIDEO CARD – EAH4870/HTDI/1G Radeon HD 4870 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card - Iam not to sure about this choice so I would like some more feedback. ASUS

POWER SUPPLY: Corsair TX CMPSU-750TX ATX12V & EPS12V Power Supply - CMPSU-750TX – Wish newegg carried this for I want to order allmy parts from the ame place to save on shipping. Can anyone suggest a PSU that newegg caries?

RAM: OCZ Reaper HPC 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory; not sure why but was told this was better; can someone please explain why?

THERMAL PASTE: Tuniq TX-2 Cooling Thermal Compound

OPERATING SYSTEM: Decided to downgrade from the Ultimate version to the 64 Premium Home version

CASE: ABS Aplus ABS-CS-Monolith Black SECC Steel ATX Full Tower Computer Case – decided to go with a full tower. I chose this one myself. What do you think? Have any better options? Do I still need xtra fans?

OPTICAL DRIVE: Pioneer Black 20X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 12X DVD+R DL 20X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 16X DVD-ROM 40X CD-R 32X CD-RW 40X CD-ROM 2MB Cache SATA 20X DVD±R DVD Burner - OEM - Decided to go with just one DVD/CD Burner
HARD DRIVES: No changes made yet. BUT, some believe I should go with two drives rather then one. Can someone please explain why I should and please tell me why it would be worth the xtra cash.

MONITOR: No changes made here yet. I have not received any feedback on my choice thus far. Does that mean I made a good choice?

Thanks again!!!

Sorry for my ignorance but what does "bench" mean? And, that monitor seems to be a GREAT deal!

Friend of mine says that Biostars support is horrible. and that my heatsinks I have picked WILL NOT WORK with socket 775 mobo. Is thi correct? If so, what do you guys suggest?

i can tell you most mother board companies have horrible support. exept probably evga but they sell gpu's and do not offer p45 board. also that cooler is junk get a sunbeam core touch.

Re: Feedback: My new build *updated - building myself*

yeaaaaaaaaa no, this guy is so wrong... dude all 32 bit application will run on a 64 bit os.....

Never said they wouldnt run.

They just wont run as good if the game isnt compatible with 64-bit.

This statement makes you sound like a evga fanboy. Get off them already. Why is that cooler junk? The sunbeam core contact is a mock of the Xigmatek.

BQfromNY just either get the Xigmatek,OCZ vendetta 2 or if you have money get the best air cooler period a Thermalright Ultra Extreme. And your friend is wrong it will work on 775 boards. I still say get the Biostar. Some guy over in XS is making modded bios for them so you'll have plenty of support

have you checked you PSU will be able to cope with everything running?

its enough...

The Cooler is fine, just get that retention bracket for it so it doesn't bend your board, but I recommend the Sunbeamtech Core Contact Freezer cooler instead
